Specialties

As a marriage and family therapist, I specialize in helping people navigate a wide range of mental health challenges and personal growth opportunities.

I believe in treating the individual within the context of their relationships and environment. Whether you are facing relationship difficulties, stress and anxiety, unwanted thoughts, parenthood, or any other life transitions, I am here to offer you a safe and supporting space to work through your concerns and achieve greater happiness and fulfillment.

OCD & unwanted intrusive thoughts

OCD is known as the “doubting disorder” because it latches onto your core values and can make you doubt or question your beliefs. This can lead to you feeling alone.

The evidence-based treatments for OCD include Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), Exposure-Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). All treatments help you regain control of your life. We will work together to find the treatment approach that works best for you.

Trauma

Trauma can shape the way you move through the world long after the experience has passed. It may show up as hypervigilance, emotional overwhelm, a sense of disconnection from yourself, or a feeling that no matter how much time has gone by, some part of you is still stuck in the past.

We will work at a pace that feels safe and manageable for you. Using EMDR and other trauma-informed approaches, we can help your nervous system process what it has been carrying, so that your past no longer has to dictate your present.

Anxiety (generalized, social, phobias, and panic)

Anxiety can make you feel on high alert, like your body is ready to fight or run. It can take over your life, leading you to feel like you are at its whim.

We will utilize elements of mindfulness, meditation, and narrative therapy to understand and build a positive connection between your body, mind, and your anxiety. The goal is to regain control of your relationship with anxiety without shaming this part of yourself.

ADHD

When you have ADHD your brain works differently. There is nothing wrong with this, you are just living in a world primarily built for neurotypical people.

Together in therapy we will identify areas of your life that are challenging and utilize your innate strengths and available resources to build ways of working that are effective for you to flourish. You will be able to learn to work with your brain, instead of struggling against it.

Perinatal & postpartum

Postpartum can be a very trying time in your life with lots of excitement and happiness but anxiety, worries, and fears can overwhelm your emotions. Going through this major life transition is challenging and can be lonely or isolating.

We will work together to build a new routine for you and your new family, identify your needs and how to meet them, and help you regain your sense of grounding. Transitioning to parenting is hard, but through therapy you can feel more present in the moment and able to weather the difficulties.

Infertility & loss

Infertility and loss can be an incredibly isolating experience. You may find yourself withdrawing from those around you or enduring situations only with incredibly high anxiety.

We’ll work together to help you process complex emotions such as grief, anger, and disappointment. You can learn how to integrate these emotions into your life as well as manage the physical, emotional, and relationship impacts of fertility challenges.

Treatment Modalities & Methods

Not all treatment is effective for everyone, so we’ll work together to develop a plan that works for you and your needs. We’ll look at all aspects of your life and how they play a part in the difficulties you experience.

Through these modalities, I aim to help individuals achieve greater happiness, wellness, and fulfillment by collaborating with them to identify and implement practical solutions to their challenges. Whether you are looking to overcome a specific issue or simply improve your overall quality of life, I am here to support you in a holistic and empowering manner.

Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT)

I-CBT shines a light on the tangled reasoning often underlying OCD, focusing on the distinct difference between reasonable doubts and the misleading stories our minds can weave. Unlike traditional approaches such as ERP, I-CBT doesn’t rely on exposures, offering a refreshing and compassionate path to reconnecting with one's authentic self. Through this tailored approach, individuals navigate life with clarity, free from the weight of unwarranted doubts.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is a widely recognized and evidence-based therapy for the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The cycle of OCD is perpetuated through the use of compulsions as a means to alleviate anxiety associated with obsessions. In ERP therapy, clients are gradually exposed to their fears while being prevented from engaging in compulsive behaviors. Instead, mindfulness and grounding techniques are utilized to help clients recognize their own strength and resilience in the face of their fears. The pace of therapy is determined by the client's comfort level and is always approached in a manageable and individualized manner.

I have attended the International OCD Foundation’s BTTI training for ERP.

Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based treatment for anxiety disorders and OCD, focusing on fostering psychological flexibility. Utilizing mindfulness, acceptance, and values-based strategies, ACT helps clients overcome obstacles and cultivate meaningful relationships in their lives.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a specialized, evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain process and heal from traumatic experiences. Trauma — whether a single overwhelming event or an accumulation of moments that left you feeling powerless or unsafe — can become stuck in the nervous system, showing up as triggers, panic, or a persistent sense of danger even when the threat has long passed. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR doesn't require you to relive or describe every detail of what happened. Instead, we use bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or gentle tapping, to help your brain digest distressing memories, shift limiting beliefs, and restore a sense of safety and groundedness. Through this process, we work toward the root of the distress so you can reconnect with your own resilience and reclaim the present.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is defined as being aware, on purpose, in the present moment, without judgement. It is a holistic approach to enhancing one's mental health and well-being, promoting awareness, compassion, and self-compassion. I integrate mindfulness into both my personal life and therapy sessions to assist clients in reducing stress, enhancing focus, and gaining a deeper insight into their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. By incorporating mindfulness, clients can develop a greater understanding of their internal landscape and cultivate greater resilience in the face of life's challenges.

Systemic / Holistic

I approach therapy from a systemic and holistic perspective, recognizing that individuals are part of interconnected systems such as families, relationships, communities, and environment. By exploring these systems, I aim to help clients make meaningful and lasting change. My approach considers the complex nature of human experience and the impact of various factors on an individual's life.
